HOT GIRLS PEARLS became a reality when I was working as an event and interior designer. A necessary medication prescribed by my doctor carried some side effects, which for me included crazy hot flashes! I immediately became a ‘Towering Inferno’ and couldn’t function without sticking my head in the freezer at every opportunity –- I wanted to carry a fire extinguisher around with me to quell my internal blaze! It got so bad, both my work and personal life suffered, leaving me miserable and ultimately, unemployed.
In March of 2010 during a freak 36-hour snowstorm I thought I would burst with joy! ..Unfortunately it was followed by sunny days of 72 degrees and my misery returned. I knew a hot New York summer was right around the corner and I had to do something or suffer..
One day as I was hanging out on the cool threshold of my freezer door, an idea hit me like an iceberg.. I needed to wear ice cubes around my neck! I bought plastic ice cubes, taped them to a string and popped them in the freezer. A few hours later I tied them around my neck and voila! I knew I was on to something.
Research, development and prototypes followed, as well as intensive business lessons (Thanks to The Tory Burch Foundation and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses). From that day in March 2010 until July 2011 when HOT GIRLS PEARLS made their national debut on the TODAY show, HOT GIRLS PEARLS has been a company dedicated to ‘Global Cooling – One Woman at a Time’.
Constance Sherman, Chief Cooling Officer
Just when the Pearls were about to make their national debut on TODAY, 14 short months since inception, Charlotte Macdonald appeared, took the reins and made everything move forward. She takes care of all the day-to-day business that makes the engine run. Without her there would be no HGP.
Charlotte Macdonald, Chief of Everything Else
We must also acknowledge Pogo,
our Chief of Security (and laughs).
